[music |rolling stones - aftermath]

so my most horrible idea ever was to start something like this right before the NCAA tourney. The miraculous run to the Big East Championship by Syracuse has kept me busy for the past four days. I'm reading a collection of essays by women who work in pornography right now entitled "naked ambition" by Carly Milne. It features essays by women who work in all aspects of adult including porn stars, directors, business owners, and people like me! It's been interesting to read about women who have taken the same path as I, and to see where they ended up. It's informative, funny, and most essays aren't a waste of time for someone who works in the industry. There are certain every day experiences and phrases that are insanely funny to someone who deal with porn and if you chuckle every time you go to the ATM, you know what I'm saying.

I have a friend who gets a real kick out of the news reports dealing with "DP World", which is the world's third largest ports company to the masses and a world in which "straight" guys get to rub their cocks against another to the dirty minded. Oh, and don't worry, since there's a chick involved...it's totally not gay, dude.

I'll get further in depth after the game but in the mean time check out:

The True Story Of What Was [Mar. 5th, 2006|09:15 am]
I've suddenly realized that my bullshit job in porn has quickly evolved into a something I've avoided until now, a career. That's right, I'm climbing the corporate ladder in the adult entertainment world, and I've never given a blowjob. For a lesbian who has a degree in Women's Studies and then went to graduate school to become a librarian this is at times confusing, somewhat empowering and an experience that makes me question a great deal of what I was once so confident in...

Since my plan to go to school forever didn't work out, I've decided to study pornography. I'm going to watch porn and try to figure out how I really feel about it and what that means about my sexuality. I'm going to read about pornography, in industry magazines, online, in books and anywhere else I can find it(any suggestions??) I'm going to look at radical anti-pornography crusaders like Andrea Dworkin for the first time since college, research the women who work within the industry and try to understand how they've changed it. For me, it's going to be all porn all the time!

This journal is my attempt to make sense of it all, to try to help my friends understand why I suddenly talk about cock a lot, and hopefully a place where I can get some feedback and further my quest to consider pornography from all angles and then reconsider whatever I think I know.
